2. More Money In Your Pocket: There have been quite a few changes in the last few decades in regards to building codes which have been mandated for  higher energy efficiency standards.

 



Newly constructed homes often use energy more efficiently. There are two ways in particular,  home builders create a better, energy efficient, cost effective home. First, they tend to create a tighter-sealed building envelope that helps prevent conditioned air—cool air in the summer, warm air in the winter—from escaping. Second, for the most part, home builders have done away with single-pane windows, and of upgraded to triple (or even quadruple) pane windows.  These windows that designed to drastically minimize the transfer of heat either from warm to cold or vice versa, and they of course, will help the building envelope. Thus, saving new home owners (like you) money in the long run!


3. Green appliances: Just one more way new “key turner” homes are putting more cash in new homeowner's pockets! New homes often come with new appliances, and nowadays, new appliances mean energy efficient, green technology. The more energy-efficient mechanics of the house, the lower the  utility bills for new home buyers. In addition to simply saving money, when newly-constructed homes include green systems and appliances—like high efficiency stoves, refrigerators, washing machines, water heaters, furnaces, or air conditioning units—that homes built years ago might not have, you are actively participating in the preservation of our planet, and that is something to feel good about!


4. Fewer repairs: The cost of home repairs can quickly eat through a family's savings account. atures that may not be present in properties built years ago, Protective measures such as the use of fire retardant in carpeting and in insulation helps to protect against damage, and give the upper hand to those brave Heroes of the Okanagan. However, fire doesn't always happen outside, and in addition to the above safety measures, all newly constructed homes are required to include hard-wired smoke detectors. These devices can provide better protection than battery-operated smoke detectors, which can fail to perform if their battery runs out. Hard-wired smoke detectors run on the electricity of the house and then have a battery backup for if the house power goes out.
